Nexterday North Calls for Industry Commitment to Digital Transformation

16 November 2016

550 innovative leaders and disrupters from around the world will converge on 28-29 November 2016 in Helsinki, Finland, to chart a new path forward for the communications and digital service industry

HELSINKI, Finland— November 16—Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V) today with co-hosting partners Salesforce, IBM and TechMahindra, unveiled the scope of its second annual Nexterday North “anti-seminar”, taking place 28-29 November 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.

To help communications service providers (CSPs) secure their future in the digital services landscape, last year’s inaugural Nexterday North event challenged attendees to think ahead, across and beyond the industry’s standards for what it means to be a traditional CSP, by gleaning insights from other digital industries. This year, Nexterday North 2016 will focus on the execution of those learnings.

“Telcos must go beyond their own industries to find the answers to digital transformation challenges,” said Juhani Hintikka CEO of Comptel. “Attending the same, tired seminars and listening to the same, stale discussions means that telco professionals are simply preserving the status quo. Now, as an industry, we need to start bringing in fresh ideas, models and learnings across the entire digital landscape. This is the core vision of Nexterday North.”

The event will feature a line-up of inspirational presentations by renowned market disruptors, futurists and leaders from all corners of the digital and communications industry. Nexterday North’s diverse roster of speakers, which include executives from Uber, Zappos Insights, Salesforce, VentureBeat and The Economist, as well as futurists Dietmar Dahmen, Mike Walsh and best-selling author David Meerman Scott, will touch on everything from business strategy and management to customer engagement, marketing, sales and new digital service and technology phenomena.

Nexterday North takes place in the two days leading up to Slush, Europe’s largest start-up event. “Whereas Slush is for start-ups, Nexterday North is for ‘grown-ups,’” said Ari Vänttinen, CMO, Comptel. “Established brands and businesses are going through a major disruption and power shift. Now is the time for them to stop overthinking digitalisation and just start doing it.”

“Nexterday North is just one piece of Comptel’s broader Nexterday movement,” continued Vänttinen. “With our online magazine and community, Nexterday.org and the upcoming launch of Comptel’s latest book, Nexterday: Volume III, we have created other powerful platforms to collect and disseminate new voices and ideas from across the global digital landscape, to support the transformation conversation.”

Nexterday North’s agenda will also feature:

  • Breakout IMPACTALK! Sessions, to provide executable and proven insights on Smart Cities and the Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile Marketing, Blockchain, Customer Experience and more.
  • Industry Blueprint Alley, a gallery of innovative ecosystems created by leading industry players. The new set of field-proven blueprints will outline revolutionary and executable frameworks.
  • The Nexterday Studio, a live video broadcast from the floor of Nexterday North, featuring interviews with event speakers and Comptel executives who will share their views on digitalisation, the customer journey and major trends in the world of technology and telecommunications. The video interviews will also be published immediately on Comptel’s YouTube channel.
  • A Telco Roast, where front line roasters will highlight the challenges facing today’s communications service providers, where they are falling short on customer experience and innovation, and what they need to do to re-invent telco business models, innovate and unlock new revenue streams.
  • The Nexterday Party will offer attendees food, drinks, entertainment and networking opportunities.
